Report: Belarus aims to buy only 30–40% of oil from Russia

MINSK, Jan 21 (PRIME) -- Belarus will aim at purchasing only 30–40% of the needed amount of oil from Russia, President Alexander Lukashenko said, as cited by newswire Belta.

“Indeed, there is no full alternative to Russian oil but as we’ve agreed, we have to diversify. We need to pursue purchasing 30–40% of oil in the Russian Federation. We must also import 30% from the Baltic states and about 30% from Ukraine, this is the way we have already checked,” Lukashenko said.

Lukashenko also said that Russia has not agreed to Kazakh oil supplies to Belarus. “Maybe Kazakhstan could send oil to us, if Russia agrees. Strange: our ally does not agree to supplies of oil from our another ally. Well, this is the situation with oil supplies, we have to settle it.”
